The head of the president’s office Paweł Szefernaker told reporters the invitation for a working meeting was included in an official congratulatory letter from Trump, delivered on Aug. 6, the day of Nawrocki’s inauguration. “Another campaign pledge being delivered as planned,” Szefernaker wrote on social media.
During his election campaign, Nawrocki said he wanted his first trip abroad as president to be to the United States, potentially with a stop at the Vatican.
It will not be the first time Nawrocki has met Trump. The Polish leader visited the White House in May during the campaign, holding talks with the U.S. president and members of his administration. The two also spoke by phone following Nawrocki’s victory in the June presidential election.
The September meeting is expected to focus on bilateral ties, security cooperation and NATO commitments, with Warsaw seeking to reinforce its strategic partnership with Washington.
