Sikorski added that the Polish consul had concluded meetings with the country’s citizens held in Israel. “They are expected to return to Poland shortly,” he said, urging Polish nationals to follow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ guidance and avoid travelling to areas considered dangerous.
Those detained by Israel in international waters included MP Franciszek Sterczewski, Omar Farris, president of the Polish Palestinian Socio-Cultural Association, and Karolina “Nina” Ptak, president of the Nomada Association, who has begun a hunger strike in protest against her detention, Polish media report.
Journalist and activist Ewa Jasiewicz, who also holds British citizenship, was part of the same humanitarian mission to Gaza.
According to the latest information from the Israeli Foreign Ministry, the Polish citizens were among 171 people deported from Israel on Monday, 6 October.
