At a joint press conference held at the Palace on the Isle in the Royal Łazienki Park, Poland's top diplomat stressed that further sanctions and sustained pressure on Russia remain essential.
Poland and the Netherlands stand with Ukraine against Russian aggression
“We discussed our bilateral relations as well as the current security situation in Europe, with particular emphasis on Ukraine. A large part of the consultations was devoted to sanctions and maintaining strong pressure on Russia,” the Polish foreign minister said.
Sikorski also highlighted Poland’s constructive dialogue with the United States.
“The Netherlands is one of our closest partners in Europe, a trusted partner and ally,” he added, thanking the Dutch for their support and for neutralising Russian drones that violated Polish airspace in September.
Polish-Dutch alliance reaffirmed over Russian's actions
“We remain united in our response to Russian aggression,” the minister emphasised.
Van Weel noted that Russia’s aggression continues to pose a serious threat and noted Poland's strategic position as a neighbour of both Russia and Ukraine.
“We thank you for your leadership and for taking a firm stance against threats from Russia,” he said, adding that talks in Warsaw also covered the issue of illegal migration.
