According to the statement, the conversation focused in particular on the state of peace talks, with both leaders addressing the security situation in Central and Eastern Europe. The call began with an exchange of Christmas greetings, the office added.
Marcin Przydacz, head of the president’s international policy bureau, said security issues related to Ukraine were the most important part of the discussion. He said Nawrocki underlined Poland’s position that Russia is the aggressor in the war and should be the side to step back from its demands in any negotiated settlement.
Przydacz said the talks also touched on negotiations involving Washington, Kyiv, Moscow and some Western European countries. He added that Trump was a highly experienced politician with detailed knowledge of the talks and was aware of which parties were willing to compromise.
The presidents also discussed Poland’s participation in the G20, bilateral economic cooperation and energy issues. The presidential office said the conversation was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere and expressed confidence that Poland’s views would be taken into account in further U.S. deliberations.
