Among the materials are emails from September 2013 that mention the name of former Polish tennis player Wojciech Fibak, who later became an art collector.
Epstein’s calendar also includes a note that he was scheduled to meet Fibak on 5 October 2013 in Paris regarding “Fine Art Investments.”
Next to this entry, a name has been redacted, which investigators say may indicate the participation of a victim whose identity needed to be protected.
Authorities noted that some of Epstein’s transactions under review were examined for potential tax avoidance through art investments.
Fibak, speaking to the Polish news outlet WP Sportowe Fakty, said he was surprised to see his name appear in the documents.
He clarified that he had never socialised with Epstein and that the meeting referenced in the files never took place.
Fibak noted that he had lived in New York for more than 20 years as a neighbour of Epstein.
During that time, they had many mutual acquaintances and occasionally saw each other at restaurants and art openings. He said that at the time, no one was aware of Epstein’s darker side and expressed sympathy for all of his victims.
“All the more reason, therefore, that I feel for his victims,” he added.
The released correspondence also includes an extensive exchange of online messages between Epstein and Polish model Mariana Idźkowska during 2014–2015.
Marek Wałkuski, Washington correspondent for Polish Radio, pointed out that the fact Idźkowska’s name was not redacted suggests that U.S. authorities did not consider her a victim.
The documents also contain no indication of any wrongdoing on her part.
At the time, Idźkowska was 28–29 years old. The records show she exchanged dozens of emails with Epstein and frequently spoke to him via Skype. She also travelled to New York at his expense and visited his private Caribbean island, where she took part in activities including scuba diving and skydiving.
The files additionally mention Janusz Banasiak, whose name reflects Polish origin, as Epstein’s estate manager in Palm Beach, Florida.
According to the documents, Epstein instructed Banasiak to ensure that if Idźkowska missed her flight to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, she would be transported to the airport the following day.
