"Relations between Hungary and the United States have reached new heights of cooperation and spectacular achievement under my administration, thanks largely to Prime Minister Orbán," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

"I was proud to endorse Viktor for re-election in 2022, and am honored to do so again," he added.

Orban’s ruling Fidesz party is trailing the centre-right opposition Tisza group in opinion polls as the prime minister faces a tough fight to retain power, according to reports.

The far-right Our Homeland party is also on track to enter parliament, while a significant share of voters remains undecided, recent polls show.
