Speaking to private broadcaster Polsat News on Thursday, Sikorski said Iran's uranium enrichment programme goes far beyond any civilian purpose, and that its long-range missiles already have the range to reach Europe, with the United States potentially within reach in the future.
He pointed to the US missile defence base in Redzikowo in the north Poland as proof that the threat has long been taken seriously.
Sikorski also addressed the recent wave of unrest inside Iran, describing it as "probably the bloodiest since the theocratic regime came to power".
Asked why Prime Minister Donald Tusk had urged Poles to leave Iran, Sikorski said the warning was simply about getting ahead of events.
The foreign minister also called on Polish citizens to leave the country immediately and avoid travelling there under any circumstances.
"If the bombing starts, it will be very difficult to evacuate people. We won't always be able to help," he said.
Iran's nuclear programme
Sikorski's comments come amid mounting tension over Iran's nuclear ambitions.
The White House said on Wednesday that despite some progress, American and Iranian positions remain far apart, with US President Donald Trump yet to decide on a potential strike.
According to Axios, Trump is increasingly leaning towards large-scale military action, Israel is reportedly preparing for war within days, and the two countries are said to be on the brink of conflict.
