Sinkevičius met Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw, where the two leaders discussed regional security and Lithuania’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Tusk said Poland and Lithuania had no disagreements on key geopolitical issues, including EU and NATO unity and Russian aggression.

According to Tusk, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland all bear responsibility for the security of the eastern border.

Sinkevičius said hybrid threats in European countries were becoming increasingly aggressive, citing Lithuania, Poland, Germany and other European countries.

Tusk thanked the Lithuanian government for its consistent stance on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and said both countries would continue helping Ukraine defend itself against Russia.

He said he expected Poland and Lithuania to present a common and clear position on sanctions against Russia at the upcoming EU summit in Brussels.

Tusk also said Lithuania had responded immediately to Poland’s proposal for joint efforts to secure the eastern border.
