The company says it promoted its products at an international motor show in that country last week and that India is among 68 countries worldwide where Lotos motor oils are available to customers.

Krzysztof Nowicki, CEO of Lotos Oil, a component of the Lotos group, was quoted as saying that the Chennai Automotive Engineering Show, which was held in Chennai, eastern India, from July 4 to 6, was one of the largest automotive trade fairs in that country.

Nowicki said in a statement sent to Poland’s PAP news agency that participation in such trade fairs "is a natural consequence of the intensive international expansion" of Lotos Oil.

"We believe that the many meetings we had with representatives from the Indian automotive industry … will enable us to expand our presence in that country," Nowicki was cited as saying.

Meanwhile, Poland's biggest oil refiner, PKN Orlen, has asked the European Commission to greenlight its proposed acquisition of the Lotos group, which is the country’s No. 2 refining company.
