Meanwhile, average wages in Poland's corporate sector in July increased by 3.8 percent from June, the state-run statistics agency reported.

The average gross Polish monthly wage last month was PLN 5,381.65 (EUR 1,229, USD 1,468), according to the statistical office.

The figures are for companies with more than nine employees.

The Polish labour minister has said that some 5 million jobs have been saved around the country thanks to measures including a massive relief and stimulus package that aims to shield the economy from the coronavirus.

A total of 58,611 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Poland since the start of the pandemic, and 1,913 have died from the COVID-19 respiratory disease so far, officials said on Wednesday.
