Strict sanitary regulations are in place, with limits on the number of customers such shops can serve at any one time.

Clients must cover their mouth and nose, and disinfect their hands before entering.

The government had ordered shopping malls to close from November 7 amid a second wave of the coronavirus, though grocery stores, pharmacies and drugstores were exempt.

That same day, the Polish health ministry reported 27,875 new single-day cases of the coronavirus, the most since the pandemic hit the country in early March.

Poland on Friday reported 17,060 new coronavirus infections and 579 more deaths, bringing its total number of cases to 958,416 and fatalities to 16,147.
