Poland wants to phase out coal by 2049

Hard coal mines in Poland are to be shut by 2049 under a new deal signed between the government and mining trade unions.

“This deal guarantees welfare support for miners, provides good solutions for the mining communities that will lose jobs due to shutdowns…and last but not least, this deal secures a good future for the Silesia region,” State Assets Minister Jacek Sasin said.
