The figure was a notch higher than a flash estimate released by the state-run statistics agency at the end of last month.

In July, the prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 5 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the Central Statistical Office.

In June, Poland's consumer price index stood at 4.4 percent, the state-run statistics agency has said.

Poland’s central bank in July raised its inflation forecasts for the country, saying it expects the consumer price index to hit 4.2 percent this year, followed by 3.3 percent in 2022.

Poland’s central bank chief, Adam Glapiński, this summer dismissed short-term concerns over inflation in an interview with the Financial Times.
