Polish inflation at 12.4% in April: stats office

Inflation in Poland stood at 12.4 percent in year-on-year terms in April, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Friday.

The figure was 0.1 percentage point higher than a flash estimate released by the state-run statistics agency at the end of last month.

In Marchthe prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 11 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the Central Statistical Office.

In FebruaryPoland's consumer price index stood at 8.5 percent, the statistics agency has said.

The Polish central bank’s Monetary Policy Council this month raised key interest rates for the eighth consecutive time in a bid to tame inflation.
