Founded by Philippe Faure, a former French diplomat, La Liste makes its picks after analysing reams of data, such as culinary guides, media publications and user reviews.

In this year’s edition, ten Polish cake shops have made to La Liste, with Mounsier Armand from the port city of Gdańsk chosen as Poland’s finest.

Of the remaining bakeries, seven operate in Warsaw, one in Legionowo near the Polish capital and one in the popular ski resort of Zakopane.

In La Liste’s general category, only one Polish restaurant – Water & Wine from the eastern village of Drzewce – made the cut.

The list takes into account eating places from 200 countries all around the world.

By means of its wide-ranging data compilation, La Liste offers a global guide for international gourmet travellers.
