Polish retail sales 0.2% up y/y in December: stats office

Retail sales in Poland went up by 0.2 percent in December at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office reported on Monday.

Sales of clothing and shoes increased 7.2 percent last month in year-on-year terms, and those of food, beverages and tobacco products rose by 1.9 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, sales of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics went down by 10.4 percent, and those of motor vehicles decreased 2.8 percent, according to Statistics Poland.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 15.5 percent higher than in December 2021, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in December were 13.1 percent higher than in November, the statistics office also reported.
