Polish industrial production up 2.6% y/y in January: stats office

Industrial production in Poland rose 2.6 percent in January compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office has said.

The reading was lower than forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 4.1 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in January was 2.5 percent lower than in December, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said on Monday.

Meanwhile, the country's seasonally-adjusted industrial production increased by 0.3 percent in year-on-year terms in January, while falling 1.3 percent month on month, the state-run statistics office also said.

According to the European Unions Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, seasonally-adjusted industrial production rose 5.8 percent in Poland in December.
