Polish industrial production up 0.3% y/y in January: Eurostat

Poland's industrial production rose 0.3 percent in January compared with the same month a year earlier, the European Union’s statistics agency has reported.

Ireland boasted the fastest year-on-year growth in seasonally-adjusted industrial production in the EU in Januaryat 19.5 percent, followed by Denmark in second place, with 14.2 percent, and Malta in third place, with 12.4 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.

Among member states for which data were available, Lithuania reported the steepest year-on-year decrease in industrial production in January, at 12 percent, while Latvia recorded a 9.8 percent drop, the agency's data showed.

The agency said seasonally-adjusted industrial production in the EU as a whole increased by 1 percent in January in year-on-year terms.

Poland’s statistics office, which uses a different methodology, reported last month that Polish industrial production rose 2.6 percent in January compared with the same month a year earlier. When adjusted for seasonal factors, the increase was 0.3 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.
