Polish PM to visit Canada for energy talks

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will travel to Canada on Friday to discuss bilateral cooperation on energy security, officials have said.

During his visit, Morawiecki will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and a group of energy executives, according to officials in Warsaw.

The talks will focus on small modular reactors (SMRs) and "offer an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, as well as to strengthen cooperation at various levels," according to an announcement.

Morawiecki is also expected to discuss efforts to bolster the eastern flank of NATO in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Canada is an important trading partner for Poland and the two countries share strong economic ties, officials said ahead of the visit.
