The "pilot cancellation" of the e-queue came into force at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the ministry of infrastructure in Warsaw said.
Trucks crossing to Poland through the Malhowice-Niżankowice checkpoint will now only wait in the "live queue," according to officials.
Meanwhile, vehicles registered in the electronic system to enter Poland after 7 p.m. on Wednesday have been rerouted to other checkpoints using the e-queue (Krakowiec-Korczowa, Yahodyn-Dorohusk, Ustilug-Zosin), to facilitate the border crossing process between Ukraine and Poland, public broadcaster Polish Radio's IAR news agency reported.
The "pilot cancellation" of the e-queue at Malhowice-Niżankowice follows an agreement between the Polish government and the country's hauliers earlier in the week.
On Tuesday, Poland's minister for infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak, announced that Polish hauliers had agreed to "suspend their blockade of Poland's Korczowa, Hrebenne and Dorohusk checkpoints with Ukraine, until March," pending policy solutions to the standoff.
The minister stated that in the meantime, the government would work with hauliers' groups, Ukrainian authorities and EU officials to develop "lasting policy solutions for international road transport," polskieradio24.pl reported.
The protest began in early November, with the key demand being that the European Union reinstate permits for Ukrainian transport companies entering the bloc, according to news outlets.
Polish hauliers also want Ukraine to abolish its electronic queue system for trucks, polskieradio24.pl reported.
Thursday is day 694 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
