Speaking during a press conference after a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Tusk said the government aims to implement the new rules by the end of the year.
Entrepreneurs interested in availing themselves of the new break must submit their applications to the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) by the end of November, officials said.
The initiative is especially significant for self-employed individuals, who are the sole employees in their enterprises, such as freelancers or independent professionals, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The application process has been streamlined so that submitting an application online will suffice, eliminating the need for further administrative decisions, officials said.
The current system has been criticized for increasing the financial and administrative burden on entrepreneurs, according to reports.
This legislative proposal, eagerly awaited by small business owners, will not extend to health insurance contributions.
The government is considering a separate measure to modify health insurance rules for entrepreneurs.
Health Minister Izabela Leszczyna and Finance Minister Andrzej Domański are expected to present specific proposals to Tusk later this week, following criticism of the current system introduced by the previous administration under Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, reporters were told.
The planned new changes are part of the government's broader effort to reform the tax and social security systems, aiming to move away from what is perceived as an overly complex and oppressive framework toward a more transparent and favorable setup for entrepreneurs, the PAP news agency reported.
Details of the proposed changes to health insurance rules are expected to be made public by the end of the week.
