Founded by Sebastian Siemiątkowski, Klarna is among several firms investing in new technologies in Poland. The Warsaw center is expected to employ over 100 engineers within a year.

"Exceptional engineering talent, a thriving startup scene, and Warsaw's strategic location make it the ideal choice for our new technology hub," Siemiątkowski was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

Valued at approximately USD 15 billion, Klarna was one of the first companies to introduce a large-scale service allowing consumers to defer payment for online purchases by 30 or even 60 days. The company currently serves over 85 million consumers and 600,000 merchants worldwide, collaborating with platforms like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and OpenAI.

Klarna's expansion into Poland reflects a growing interest among global tech firms in the country's burgeoning tech scene and its pool of skilled engineers.
