Poland among EU's fastest-growing economies: PM, finance minister

Prime Minister Donald Tusk welcomed the estimate in a social media post, noting that Poland's economic growth outpaced that of the EU's three largest economies—with France posting 0.8 percent GDP growth, Italy 0.6 percent, and Germany seeing a 0.2 percent contraction, according to the figures he cited.

Finance Minister Andrzej Domański said on X that Poland's GDP grew "significantly faster" than the EU average in the first quarter of 2025.

"We expect even faster growth in the coming quarters, driven primarily by rising investment," Domański wrote in a post.

"For the full year 2025, Poland will be among the fastest-growing economies in the EU," he added.

The Polish statistics office is expected to report full first-quarter data on June 2.

Poland's gross domestic product expanded by 2.9 percent in 2024 as a whole, after growing 0.1 percent in 2023, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency.

Poland’s central bank in March predicted that the Polish economy would expand 3.7 percent this year, followed by 2.9 percent in 2026 and 2.3 percent in 2027.

President Andrzej Duda in January signed Poland's budget for 2025, which expects the economy to grow 3.9 percent this year.

Polish GDP is expected to grow 3.5 percent next year, according to a set of macroeconomic targets adopted by the government at the end of last month.
