Polish inflation at 4.1% in May: flash estimate

Inflation in Poland stood at 4.1 percent in year-on-year terms in May, the country’s statistics office said in a flash estimate on Friday.

The reading was 0.2 percentage points lower than forecast by economists polled by Poland’s PAP news agency.

In Aprilthe prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 4.3 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency.

In MarchPoland's consumer price index also stood at 4.9 percent, Statistics Poland reported.

The statistics office said earlier this year it had revised its system of weights used for calculating the consumer price index in 2025.

The Polish central bank predicted in its latest Inflation Report, released on March 14, that inflation would average at 4.9 percent in 2025, followed by 3.4 percent in 2026 and 2.5 percent in 2027.

According to a set of macroeconomic targets adopted by the government in late April, Polish inflation is projected to average 3.8 percent next year, followed by 3 percent in 2027, 2.8 percent in 2028 and 2.5 percent in 2029.
