InPost, the Polish group behind Europe’s largest network of 24-hour parcel lockers, said it has taken over Spain’s Sending to strengthen its logistics footprint and door-to-door services on the Iberian Peninsula.
The deal adds Sending’s nationwide courier infrastructure and next-day home-delivery offering to InPost Iberia, which already runs more than 3,000 automated lockers and over 9,000 pick-up/drop-off points in Spain and Portugal. InPost plans to install another 1,000 lockers in the region by year-end.
“On the peninsula we are already the No. 2 locker network and continue to grow rapidly,” founder and chief executive Rafał Brzoska said in a statement, adding that the acquisition “creates a comprehensive delivery ecosystem” combining lockers, PUDO points and door service.
Sending also serves Andorra, Gibraltar, Ceuta, Melilla, the Canary and Azores islands, and offers daily cross-border transport to Iberia from six European countries, InPost noted.
The group, active in nine markets, ended the first quarter with over 50,000 lockers and about 33,000 PUDO points worldwide. Brzoska said the latest purchase, alongside recent UK acquisitions, aligns with InPost’s strategy of marrying organic expansion with targeted takeovers to speed the rollout of out-of-home delivery solutions in Europe.
