He said he would sign the agreement in Warsaw on Friday, at a ceremony attended by Brent T. Christensen, US Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security.
The loan guarantee is being provided under the US Foreign Military Financing (FMF) programme and will support ongoing efforts to modernise Poland’s armed forces, according to Kosiniak-Kamysz.
It is the third such loan granted to Poland in recent years, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Last year, Washington provided a USD 2 billion loan guarantee, which officials say Warsaw used to help fund the purchase of Patriot air defense systems, HIMARS long-range artillery, Abrams tanks and F-35 fighter jets.
