More foreign workers in Poland: stats office

Around 1,057,400 foreign workers were employed in Poland at the end of February, 5.3 percent more than a year earlier, the national statistics office has reported.

That number was 1.2 percent up on the previous month and accounted for 6.4 percent of the total workforce, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said on Tuesday.

These foreign workers hailed from more than 150 countries, with 67 percent coming from Ukraine, according to Statistics Poland.

Belarusians accounted for 11 percent of the foreign workforce, followed by Georgians at 2.3 percent, and Indians at 2 percent.

Colombians represented 1.5 percent of the total labour force, while Filipinos made up 1.4 percent.
