The Adyen Index: Retail Report 2025 found that 37 percent of Polish businesses plan to sell online outside the country, while 23 percent are considering opening physical stores.
Germany, France, Italy and Britain are the most attractive markets, the study found.
About 36 percent of firms said they intend to join global marketplaces, while 28 percent are looking to test foreign markets and boost brand recognition through pop-up events, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
More than a quarter of businesses plan to spend between PLN 2.5 million and PLN 2.9 million (around EUR 680,000, USD 800,000) on international expansion.
One in eight expects to invest between PLN 12 million and PLN 24 million, while 6 percent foresee outlays of more than PLN 49 million.
Polish businesses also recognize the need to adapt to local payment systems to compete abroad. Thirty-one percent plan to introduce new online payment methods, 30 percent want to expand payment options in physical stores, and 20 percent said reducing transaction costs is a priority, the report authors said.
The survey was conducted between February and March among 41,000 consumers and 14,000 retail businesses worldwide, including 1,001 consumers and 500 companies in Poland.
