Teachers in the country, including those with advanced qualifications, typically earn less than PLN 6,000 (EUR 1,400, USD 1,650) a month.

Deputy Education Minister Katarzyna Lubnauer told public broadcaster Polish Radio on Tuesday that teachers' salaries are set to rise by nearly 40 percent in 2026.

She added, however, that the ministry does not plan to introduce extra pay for supervising students during school trips—a longstanding grievance among educators.

Teacher’s Day in Poland is traditionally celebrated with special ceremonies in schools instead of regular classes.

During these events, outstanding educators receive state decorations, Medals of the Commission of National Education, prizes from the education ministry and honorary titles.

Education Minister Barbara Nowacka paid tribute on social media to the teachers who had the greatest influence on her own education.
