Polish retail sales 6.4% up y/y in September: stats office

Retail sales in Poland went up by 6.4 percent in September at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office reported on Wednesday.

Sales of clothing and shoes soared by 20.5 percent in September in year-on-year terms, and those of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics rose 16.1 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, sales of motor vehicles shot by 15 percent, and those of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics increased 4.4 percent, according to Statistics Poland.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 6.6 percent higher than in September 2024, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in September were 2.7 percent lower than in August, the statistics office also reported.
