Polish unemployment steady at 5.6% in November: stats office

Unemployment in Poland held steady at 5.6 percent in November, unchanged from October, the country's statistics office reported on Tuesday.

The figure was 0.1 percentage point lower than an earlier estimate by the labour ministry.

There were around 873,600 people without jobs across the nation at the end of November, up from 867,300 a month earlier, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency.

The statistics office reported last week that employment in Polish companies dropped by 0.8 percent in November on average in year-on-year terms.

According to the European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, unemployment in Poland had stood at 3.2 percent in October, marking one of the lowest rates in the 27-nation bloc
