Wizz Air to launch new flights from Poland to Bulgaria, Italy, Greece

Low-cost carrier Wizz Air said on Tuesday it will launch new routes from Poland to Bulgaria, Italy and Greece in May and June, expanding its network in the country.

Flights from Warsaw-Modlin Airport to the Bulgarian Black Sea resort of Varna will begin on May 21 and operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the airline said.

A new route from Warsaw-Modlin to the Italian city of Rimini will launch on May 22 and run four times weekly, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Wizz Air will also introduce flights from the southern Polish city of Kraków to the Greek island of Rhodes on June 9, operating three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

All of the new routes will be served by Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Brindisi, Palermo, Bergamo...

The airline said the Varna and Rimini services would further expand its offerings from Warsaw-Modlin, from where it already flies to destinations including Palermo, Alghero, Bergamo and Brindisi in Italy, as well as Barcelona, Athens, Paphos in Cyprus, Malta, Sofia, Bergen in Norway and Chișinău in Moldova.

Wizz Air said it operated more than 69,000 flights in Poland last year and currently flies to 32 destinations.

Since entering the Polish market in 2004, the Hungarian low-cost carrier has carried nearly 130 million passengers, according to the company.

Wizz Air operates from 12 airports in Poland, including Warsaw-Chopin, Warsaw-Modlin, Kraków, Katowice, Gdańsk and Wrocław.

The airline is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
