Employment down, wages up in Polish firms y/y in December: stats office

Employment in Polish companies dropped by 0.7 percent in December on average in year-on-year terms, the country’s statistics office has reported.

Meanwhile, average wages in Poland's corporate sector increased by 5.6 percent last month compared with the same month a year earlier, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

The average gross Polish monthly wage last month was PLN 9,583.31 (EUR 2,275, USD 2,700), according to the statistical office.

The figures are for companies with more than nine employees.

The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policestimated this month that Poland's unemployment rate inched up to 5.7 percent in December, from 5.6 percent in November.

The average wage in Poland rose 7.5 percent in the third quarter of 2025 compared with the same quarter of 2024, according to Statistics Poland.

The country's minimum monthly wage currently stands at PLN 4,806 (EUR 1,140, USD 1,350).
