Polish retail sales 5.3% up y/y in December: stats office

Retail sales in Poland went up by 5.3 percent in December at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office reported on Monday.

Sales of of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics soared by 19.8 percent in December in year-on-year terms, and those of motor vehicles shot by 13.1 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, sales of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics rose by 8.4 percent, and those of clothing and shoes increased 6 percent, according to Statistics Poland.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 5 percent higher than in December 2024, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in December were 12.5 percent higher than in November, the statistics office also reported.
