Polish unemployment down to 5.8% in June: gov't

Poland’s unemployment rate edged down to 5.8 percent in June, from 5.9 percent in May, the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy said on Wednesday.

There were around 902,700 people without jobs across the nation at the end of June, down by 13,200 from a month earlier, according to the government.

The state-run Statistics Poland agency (GUSreported last month that the Polish jobless rate had fallen to 5.9 percent in May, from 6 percent in April.

Meanwhile, the European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated this month that unemployment in Poland had stood at 3.1 percent in May, marking one of the lowest rates in the 27-nation bloc.
