The figure came in weaker than expected by analysts, who had forecast a 6.3-percent increase in Polish industrial production last month, state news agency PAP reported.
In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in August was 7.5 percent lower than in July, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.
Meanwhile, the country's seasonally-adjusted industrial production increased by 3 percent in year-on-year terms in August, while falling 1.2 percent month on month, according to the state-run statistics office.
According to the European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, Poland's seasonally-adjusted industrial production had increased 4.3 percent in July compared with the same month in 2025.
