Disposable income up in Poland: stats office

Average monthly disposable income in Poland was PLN 1,819 (EUR 398, USD 435) per person in 2019, rising from PLN 1,693 a year earlier, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) has reported.

In 2017, average monthly disposable income per person in Poland was PLN 1,598, while in 2016 it stood at PLN 1,475, according to the state-run statistics agency.

The Central Statistical Office defines disposable income as total personal income less taxes and social security and state health insurance contributions.

The office reported in February that average wages in Poland in the final quarter of last year were 6.9 percent higher on average than in the same period of 2018.

The average Pole earned PLN 5,198.58 (USD 1,331, EUR 1,220) a month before taxes during the last three months of 2019, according to the statistics office.

Meanwhile, the average monthly salary in the European Union at the end of last year was nearly EUR 3,000, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.
