In September the index edged up to 50.8 from 50.6 in August.

Poland’s PMI in April fell to its lowest level on record amid virus fears, sinking to 31.9 from 42.4 in March, according to the British market researcher.

The PMI is a composite indicator of manufacturing performance evaluated on the basis of new orders, output, employment, suppliers’ delivery times and stocks of purchases.

Any figure greater than 50 indicates overall improvement of the sector, according to IHS Markit.

On Saturday, Poland reported a record rise in coronavirus infections for the fifth consecutive day, confirming 21,897 new cases, the most since the pandemic hit the country in early March.

On Monday, Poland reported 15,578 new coronavirus infections and 92 more deaths.
