The two-day Virtual Hydrogen Fair event began in the Polish capital on Wednesday and continues on Thursday.
Hydrogen, which is often called "the fuel of the future," has been growing in popularity because it makes it possible to reduce CO2 emissions. It offers potential uses in production, transport and the energy sector.
Poland is a leading global producer of hydrogen. Last year, the Polish government adopted a national hydrogen strategy that calls for the creation of five "hydrogen valleys" in the country by 2030, among other objectives.
"I see a very big role for hydrogen in the energy sector, and I think development and research of hydrogen technologies will be big now and in the future, when it comes to the transport and energy sectors," Robert Niewierski of the ENEA energy company, told Danuta Isler.
Last year his company launched a research project called H2Buffer to develop a system for storing energy and stabilizing the power grid.
The system is expected to use green hydrogen produced from renewable energy installations.
