The reading disappointed analysts, who had expected industrial production to decrease by no more than 3.5 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in April was 14.8 percent lower than in March, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said on Monday.
Meanwhile, the country's seasonally-adjusted industrial production fell by 3.4 percent in year-on-year terms in April, while decreasing 1.6 percent month on month, the state-run statistics office reported.
According to the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, seasonally-adjusted industrial production decreased by 2.9 percent in Poland in March.
