Home completions up 2.5% in Poland in first five months of 2023: stats office

Builders in Poland completed 2.5 percent more homes in the first five months of this year than in the same period in 2022, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) has reported.

Around 93,700 housing units were completed nationwide between the start of January and the end of May, the office said on Thursday.

It added that the number of housing starts in January, February, March, April and May, at around 69,500 in total, was 27.4 percent lower than in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, overall output in Poland’s construction-and-assembly sector decreased by 0.7 percent in May in year-on-year terms, while rising 12.2 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency also reported.

Builders completed around 238,600 new homes in Poland last year, 1.7 percent more than in 2021, Statistics Poland estimated earlier this year.
