The planned offshore installation port, one of the most cutting-edge facilities of this type in Europe, will be located in Poland's northwestern city of Świnoujście, Polish Radio's polskieradio24.pl website reported on Wednesday.

The launch is planned for early 2025, said Poland's state energy conglomerate Orlen, the country's biggest industrial firm.

To begin with, Orlen will use the Świnoujście terminal to help assemble the 1.2 GW Baltic Power wind farm, worth EUR 4.7 billion.

Orlen's joint venture with Canada's Northland Power, the Baltic Power offshore wind farm is due to be launched in 2026 and supply eco-friendly electricity to over 1.5 million households, polskieradio24.pl reported.

Orlen then plans to use the Świnoujście installation port to build five more offshore wind farms, with a combined capacity of 5.2 GW, to further Poland's energy transition, the company said.
