Home completions down in Poland in January

Builders in Poland completed 22.7 percent fewer homes in January than in the same month last year, the country’s statistics office reported on Wednesday.

Around 14,800 housing units were completed nationwide in the first month of this year, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

It added that the number of housing starts last month, at around 15,700, was 66.4 percent higher than in the same period a year earlier.

Meanwhile, overall output in Poland’s construction-and-assembly sector fell by 6.1 percent in January in year-on-year terms, while decreasing by 63.2 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency also reported.

Builders completed around 220,400 new homes in Poland last year, a decrease of 7.6 percent from 2022, Statistics Poland said last month in a preliminary estimate.
