NIK's report on IPN exposed extensive financial irregularities. The institute mismanaged public funds, spending 7.72 million PLN on unused premises and 370,000 PLN on unused multimedia capsules.
Additionally, purchased equipment was not delivered on time, further raising controversies. The audit recommended stricter oversight of expenditures and better planning and execution of projects to prevent further irregularities.
Oversight failures and financial missteps at IPN
In its report, the Supreme Audit Office highlighted inadequate oversight of grant funds by the Museum of Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the PRL. The institute spent 1.41 million PLN on construction work that began before obtaining the building permit.
NIK recommended enhancing supervision of project planning and implementation, adopting rational public funds management practices, and establishing effective control mechanisms and risk identification to prevent similar irregularities in the future.
