June 28th was also a historic, record-breaking day - with almost 75,000 people checking in within 24 hours.

The Warsaw airport handled 10.5% more passengers in June than in the same month last year, and over 12% more compared to June 2019, the last year before the pandemic.

More so, in the first half of 2024, Poland's capital airport had over 13% more passengers than in the same period of 2019 - and almost 17% more than in the January - June period of 2023.

The largest increase in the number of passengers, compared to the pre-pandemic period, occurred in the charter segment - used by 47% more passengers this year than five years ago. Almost 2.5 million people used low-cost cruises, which is an increase of nearly 68% compared to the first half of 2019.

Till June, nearly 2/3s of 2024 passengers travelled within the Schengen area. Non-Schengen London remains the most popular scheduled flights destination, though, followed by Paris and Amsterdam. In the case of charters - Turkey's Antalya leads the way, while Egypt's Marsa Alam and Hurghada follow.
