According to the Polish state news agency PAP, citing a diplomatic source, a total of 80 individuals and entities involved in supporting Russia in the production of drones used against Ukraine will be added to the EU sanctions blacklist.
This includes companies from China and Hong Kong accused of building attack drones and supplying microelectronic components to Russian military factories. Also included are North Korean officials supporting Russia, as well as a Chinese national controlling a company that violated EU sanctions.
Those on the EU sanctions list will be banned from entering the EU, their assets within the EU will be frozen, and the companies will be prohibited from conducting business within the EU.
The new sanctions will not address economic issues, meaning they will not include the planned import of agricultural fertilizers from Russia and Belarus, as advocated by Poland and the Baltic states.
EU sanctions to target 40 ships transporting Russian oil
As reported by the Polish Radio correspondent, the EU sanctions will also include the so-called "shadow fleet" accused of transporting Russian oil at prices higher than those set under the sanctions.
Next year, the EU plans to implement environmental checks on vessels operating in the Baltic Sea that pose an ecological threat due to their poor technical condition.
The sanctions package will also target entities in Russia's military industry, and the decisions to impose these sanctions must be unanimously approved by all 27 EU member states.
