Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the plan on Sunday, May 18, via social media, calling it good news for the growing number of Poles who choose the Balkans for their summer vacations.

Details were expected to be released following a meeting of the Polish government on Tuesday.

The service will offer direct connections from Poland to the coastal city of Rijeka in Croatia, running four times a week without the need to change trains.

The route will pass through the Czech Republic (Ostrava), Austria (Vienna), and Slovenia (Ljubljana). Major Polish stops along the route are expected to include Warsaw, Katowice and Opoczno.

Initial pricing suggests tickets will start at around PLN 200 (around EUR 50, USD 55). The full journey is expected to take up to 12 hours.
