The figure exceeded expectations by analysts, who had forecast a 0.2-percent decline in Polish industrial production last month, state news agency PAP reported.

Finance Minister Andrzej Domański said in a social media post that domestic industry is expected to gradually accelerate in the coming months, driven primarily by strong internal demand.

In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in April was 3.5 percent lower than in March, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, the country's seasonally-adjusted industrial production went down by 0.2 percent in year-on-year terms in April, while increasing 1 percent month on month, according to the state-run statistics office.

According to the European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, Poland's seasonally-adjusted industrial production rose 1.2 percent in March compared with the same month in 2024.
