Malta recorded the lowest jobless rate in the EU in July, at 2.6 percent, followed by the Czech Republic with 2.8 percent, and Slovenia in third place, with 2.9 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.
Polish unemployment was fourth-lowest, data showed.
Meanwhile, Spain had the highest seasonally-adjusted jobless rate in the EU, at 10.4 percent, and Finnish unemployment was the second-highest at 9.5 percent, according to the latest available data.
Eurostat reported last week that the EU average for July was 5.9 percent, down from 6 percent in June.
Poland's statistics office GUS, which uses a different methodology, reported last month that the Polish jobless rate rose to 5.4 percent in July, from 5.2 percent in June.
