Under the deal, Orlen will supply Ukraine with more than 300 million cubic metres of gas sourced from US liquefied natural gas (LNG), received through Polish infrastructure.

The agreement was signed during an Atlantic Council conference in Athens, Greece, focused on transatlantic energy cooperation.

Poland’s Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka and Deputy Energy Minister Wojciech Wrochna attended the event.

Motyka said the agreement "represents another step towards strengthening the region’s energy security."

He added that "Poland plays an exceptionally important role in supporting Ukraine and other countries in our region that directly or indirectly feel the effects of Russian aggression."

Orlen Vice-President Robert Soszyński added that the contract provides for the delivery of three LNG cargoes in the first quarter of 2026.

The LNG imported by Orlen will be regasified at one of the terminals where the company holds capacity rights, before being transported via pipelines to Ukraine.

This marks another stage of cooperation between the two companies. Earlier this year, more than 600 million cubic metres of gas were already delivered to Naftogaz.

Both sides aim to finalise commercial terms soon and sign the definitive contract.

With the new agreement, total gas volumes supplied by Orlen to Naftogaz could reach nearly 1 billion cubic metres.
